The Matt Andrews Project: Baltimore Sessions

In Fall of 2019 Matt brought together some of his favorite musicians in the Baltimore area for two live studio sessions. The first session consisted of a trio with violin, accordion (Dallas Vietty), and double-bass (Ed Hrybyk). This “semi-chordless” trio made for a somewhat unique ensemble, heavily influenced by Be-bop but with an instrumentation not commonly heard in the style. The second session added in the Manouche-guitar stylings of Sami Arefin and brought Zach Serleth in on bass. This second session was a more conventional Jazz Manouche ensemble, heavily influenced by Django Reinhardt and French Musette. Together these two sessions made for quite a nice combination on this record.
